Description
Listen to the Full Episode:

Investing in Yourself: How Your Choices Shape Your Self-Image
Self-image is essentially how we perceive ourselves, shaped by our thoughts, beliefs, and experiences. Tonya Leigh explores the profound connection between the investments we make—whether in time, money, or energy—and the evolution of our self-image. This exploration is particularly relevant for women seeking to elevate their self-perception and overall life experience. Tonya emphasizes that our self-image acts as a lens through which we view our capabilities and potential. When we invest in ourselves, we are not merely acquiring things; we are affirming our worth and expanding our identity.
She emphasizes the importance of the energy behind our investments, highlighting that buying from a place of fear or scarcity often leads to disappointment. Instead, she encourages listeners to invest from a mindset of deserving and self-worth, exemplified by her own experience purchasing a designer handbag as a step towards embracing a new identity.
Tune in to discover how your choices can empower your personal growth and self-image.

What if the way you invest your time, your money, your energy is shaping your self-image more than you realize? Well, in this episode of our summer series, we are going to explore the powerful link between your investments and the woman that you're becoming, and I'm also going to be sharing the latest investment that has really, really expanded my self-image. So let's dive in.
Welcome to the School of Self-Image, where personal development meets style. Here's your hostess, master life coach, Tonya Leigh.
Hello, hello, friends, and welcome back to another episode of our summer series for the School of Self-Image podcast, where we are revisiting some episodes from the past. And this one is one that I got so many comments about. I had women in my DMs. I had women asking me questions. I had members talking about this episode because it's all about the investments that we make in ourselves and how it really does shape our self-image. More specifically, with this particular episode, I shared the five investments that I had made during that period of my life that really elevated my self-image. So make sure you listen to it, because if I've learned anything, it's that it's not the thing itself. It is really the energy behind the thing.

I like to think about the first time I bought a designer handbag. I truly bought it from a place of deserving it, feeling like I really deserved it. I bought it from a place of really wanting to step into a woman who values quality, who really allows herself to have what she wants, unapologetically. Very different energy than purchasing a handbag because you think you're not good enough, and the handbag's going to make you better, buying it to impress other people, and so on and so forth.
Now, the really interesting thing about how I've evolved over the years is that, while I still appreciate quality, I'm not into designer handbags. And I know that's going to be shocking to so many people, but it just doesn't speak to me like it used to. I think, back then, that was part of my journey. I needed to prove to myself that I was worthy of beautiful things, that I could become the kind of woman who could afford those beautiful things. And then, once I went through that phase of my life, they just don't carry the same weight. Now, that's not to say I'll never buy another one, but I have absolutely no desire for designer handbags. And maybe it's because I have a few beautiful ones in my collecti
